Mahoning Valley Chapter, SAR Honors Mahoning Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution
The Mahoning Chapter of the American Revolution gathered for brunch to celebrate their 125th Anniversary at the Holiday Inn on July 28th. Mahoning Valley Chapter Sons of the American Revolution were invited and presented two awards. John Dalbec, Trustee of the Chapter made presentations on behalf of the Ohio State Society and Mahoning Valley Chapter. The first award was given to Sarah Keeler, Regent of the DAR Chapter for Ohio Society President, Shawn Cox and State officers sending congratulations and recognition of the many community works performed by the Daughters of the American Revolution chapter. Mahoning Valley chapter awarded its Community Service Award which recognizes the contributions of the DAR chapter promoting Patriotism, Education and Service to the Community. Ohio Society Daughters of the American Revolution and Keynote speaker Honorable Judge Robert Rusu who spoke on the American Dream and shared his immigrant grandparents story.
The Mahoning Chapter of the DAR was founded on April 18th,1893 by Mrs. Rachel Wick Taylor.
It was the second chapter organized in the State of Ohio by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
