Independence Day Parade – Lancaster
The Hocking Valley Chapter recently participated in Lancaster’s Independence Day Parade (Fairfield County) as it has since the chapter’s inception in 2009.
It was a beautiful day, and a friendly, patriotic crowd enthusiastically waved to the SAR compatriots as they passed by in their parade wagon along the two mile route. Children were out in force this year, many dressed in red, white, and blue attire waving small American flags. Following behind the SAR parade wagon was a ringing Liberty Bell, a Civil War Fife and Drum Band, as well as Abe Lincoln and a parade wagon of Union Soldiers with their cannon. The chapter also took part in an Independence Day Parade in Sugar Grove, Ohio a few days earlier on July 1st.
