Early Settlers Association of Western Reserve Wreath Ceremony – Cleveland, OH

On June 14, 2017, The Early Settlers Association of the Western Reserve placed a wreath at the statue of young George Washington behind the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Office Building at the corner of Lakeside Ave. and East 6th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. The Western Reserve Society and Northeast Ohio Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution Color Guards presented the colors for the event.

Before the ceremony, a group of children at a summer camp with their counselors came out of the office building and asked about our group. We told them about our ancestors and the event and had a group photo with them. They were so happy!

The placing of the wreath at the George Washington statue was to symbolize Flag Day and the forward thinking of George Washington as to the importance of the western lands of the new United States.
