Ohio Society SAR Recognizes Members For Exceptional Service

On May 6th, 2017 at the Awards Banquet at the Ohio Society Sons of the American Revolution 128th Annual State Conference in Blue Ash, Ohio, five Ohio Society SAR members were recognized by State President Col. (Ret) Donald C. McGraw for exceptional service to the organization.

Compatriots Steven E. Frash and Turner Lee Wilkerson III were awarded the National Society State Patriot Medal, which is the highest National Society award presented to a Compatriot by a State Society, and recognizes long, faithful, outstanding, and distinguished service.  Compatriot Frash has been a member of the SAR since 2012.  He is the current Marietta Chapter President, and has served as Ohio Society 2nd Vice President, and Ohio Society Secretary.  He presently serves the state as the Southeast District Chairman.  Compatriot Wilkerson, has been a member of the SAR since 2013.  He is the current First Vice-President of the Cincinnati Chapter, and holds the position of Ohio Society Secretary.

LtoR: Compatriot L. Stephen Hinson; Ohio SAR President Col. (Ret) Donald C. McGraw

Compatriot L. Stephen Hinson was awarded the National Society State Medal of Distinguished Service in recognition of conspicuous service to the Ohio Society.  Compatriot Hinson has been a member of the SAR since 2012.  He is the current Northeastern Ohio Chapter President, and has served as the Ohio Society Treasurer.  He presently holds the position of Second Vice-President of the Ohio Society.

LtoR: Compatriot Terry A. Whetstone; Ohio SAR President Col. (Ret) Donald C. McGraw; Compatriot John H. Bredenfoerder

Compatriots John H. Bredenfoerder and Terry A. Whetstone were awarded the National Society State Meritorious Service Medal for rendering long, faithful and meritorious service to the Ohio Society.  Compatriot Bredenfoerder has been a member of the SAR since 2012.  He is the current Cincinnati Chapter President and holds the office of Treasurer of the Ohio Society.  Compatriot Whetstone has been a member of the SAR since 1988.  He is the current George Rogers Clark Chapter Secretary and Chaplain, and has served the Ohio Society in numerous offices and committees, including State President in 2002.  He is an Ohio Society Samuel Hubbard Scott Laureate, receiving the prestigious award in 2005.  He is a retired Major from the U.S. Air Force.
