Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest Judged at Ohio SAR State Conference
The judging of the entries for the Ohio Society state Poster Contest occurred at the 128th Annual Ohio Society State Conference in Blue Ash, Ohio on May 6th, 2017. The first place award went to Paige Gooding, who entered the contest through the Cincinnati Chapter. State contest chairman Robert Davis presented the certificate and award to Cincinnati Chapter President John H Bredenfoerder, who accepted on behalf of Paige, who was not present.
The second place award went to Lilly Luce, sponsored by the Northeastern Ohio Chapter; and the third place award went to Jakin Bass, sponsored by the Hocking Valley Chapter.
The Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students interested in the American Revolution to participate in. The contest is open to public school, parochial, home schooled, Scouting, or Children of the American Revolution member students in that same grade range. Young artists with an enthusiasm toward art, a love of American history, or a passion in creative expression submit their posters to their local SAR chapter for competition. While the Americanism Poster Contest begins at the local level, students’ masterpieces may eventually be judged and monetarily awarded at the national level in June at the annual SAR Congress. The theme for the Poster Contest rotates annually based upon whether the school year ends in an even or odd number.
