David Hudson Chapter DAR Youth Awards Program, Hudson, OH

On Sunday, February 5, 2017, David Hudson Chapter DAR held their Annual Youth Awards Program at Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson, Ohio.

Jane Plank, Regent of the David Hudson Chapter, called the meeting to order and requested the Combined Color Guard from Western Reserve Society and Lafayette Chapter to advance the colors.

Guard Commander, John Franklin, Jr., leads the color guard in and is followed by Lee MacBride, Greg Arnold, Galen Swab, Katy Kadlec-Doran (DAR), Scott Glasgow and Claude Custer.

Greg Arnold presented the Ohio flag and Katy Kadlec-Doran, Vice Regent of David Hudson Chapter, presented the Daughters of the American Revolution flag.

After posting the colors, Lafayette Chapter SAR President Scott Glasgow brought greetings. He congratulated the students on all of their accomplishments and told them, “You are our future leaders!”

Many DAR awards and scholarships for Essays, Posters, Poems, Stamp Designs, Photos, Banners, Community Service, and Good Citizenship were presented at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Some students have already won at State and are going on to District. Also, three teachers received Educator Recognition Awards.

At the conclusion of the event, Western Reserve Society and Lafayette Chapter SAR members and David Hudson Chapter DAR members assembled with the award winning students.
