George Rogers Clark Chapter Holds Veterans Day Luncheon – Springfield, OH


Springfield’s George Rogers Clark SAR Chapter remembered and honored Veterans at its Veterans Day luncheon on Saturday, November 12, 2016.  Chapter officers for 2017 were elected and, following installation by Ohio Society 2nd Vice President Shawn Cox, GRC Chapter President Randy Young presented the Fire Safety Commendation Medal and the Emergency Medical Services Medal to members of the Springfield Fire Rescue Division.   Chapter Secretary Terry Whetstone (above left) joined George Rogers Clark Chapter President Randy Young (above right) in presenting the SAR Fire Safety Commendation Medal to Springfield Fire Rescue Division Captain Eric Shively.  Captain Shively and SAR Emergency Medical Services Medal recipient Jeffery Strother were nominated by SFRD Chief Nick Heimlich to receive these honors.

Robert Pollock (USAF Ret., former Nat. Trustee and former DC Society Pres.), and GRC Treasurer John Buffenbarger (former GRC Pres.).

Last week the GRC Chapter had honored the Lagonda Chapter DAR as it celebrated its 75th anniversary of operating/ownership of the Pennsylvania House Museum, a restored tavern from the 1830s that was at the western end – in the wilderness – of the Route 40 National Road – “the Inn At the End of the Pike” – and Chapter Secretary Terry Whetstone  recognized Lagonda Chapter DAR Regent Jacquelyn Juergens and shared the GRC certificate presented to the Lagonda Chapter.  Following the business meeting, the program included a presentation on the Pennsylvania House Museum by Lagonda Chapter member Mrs. Carol Spurlock (wife of GRC Compatriot Jack Spurlock).
