Marietta Chapter Ohio SAR Travels to 236th Gathering at Ft. Watauga, Elizabethton, TN

On September 17, 2016, the Ohio Society Sons of the American Revolution’s Marietta Chapter was represented at the 236th Gathering at Ft. Watauga, Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area, Elizabethton, Tennessee.  This event was sponsored by the Watauga Chapter, Kings Mountain Chapter and the State of Franklin Chapter.

Representatives from other organizations included the C.A.R.; DAR; Washington County Regiment N.C. Militia; Watauga Historic Society; and the Daughters of 1812.

The members and officers of District #1 Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution thanked the OHSSAR Marietta Chapter for their participation in the Salute to the Memory of the men and woman of the Overmountain Men who offered up their lives and fortunes to make our country and people free.  We now owe our hearts and our fortunes to keep this great Nation free.  The Marietta Chapter had the distinction of traveling the longest distance to attend this National Event (410 miles).
