On April 9, 2016 at the Akron Woman’s City Cub Ballroom, the Akron and Cuyahoga-Portage Chapters of the Ohio Society Daughters of the American Revolution  and the  Lafayette Chapter of the Ohio Society Sons of the American Revolution jointly held their Annual Luncheon and Community Awards Presentation.

Over 20 members and their guests of the Lafayette Chapter and Western Reserve Society were in attendance with many  of the DAR ladies. Community and Student Youth Awards where presented by the SAR and the DAR.

Lafayette Chapter President Scott Glasgow presented the SAR Meritorious Service medal and certificate to Marty and Ken Shoemaker for all their service to the community.  They always support the Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade by driving representatives from local heritage groups in their classic cars.

Eagle Scout Brandon Weimer of Seville Troop 456 was named the Lafayette Chapter Eagle Scout Scholarship recipient. Brandon will be attending Kent State University School of Architecture in the fall.

President Scott Glasgow awarded Dr. John Gifford the Outstanding Citizenship pin and certificate for his participation in the Honor Flight Program, and also for sponsoring the flights for WWII, Korea and Vietnam veterans.
