Ohio Society SAR State Conference
The Ohio Society will hold its 127th Annual State Conference in Blue Ash, Ohio from April 29th to May 1st, 2016. Blue Ash, a suburb of Cincinnati, is situated in northeastern Hamilton County. The three day event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 5901 Pfeiffer Road, conveniently located off of exit 15 of I-71.
The conference schedule includes the Society’s business meetings of the Executive Committee; the Board of Management; the Society, also known as the Annual Meeting; and the Ladies Auxiliary.
On Friday evening, April 30th, there will be a plated dinner preceding the Executive Committee meeting, with keynote speaker Compatriot Paul M. Wilke presenting the Cincinnati Chapter’s Captain Howard Miller Memorial Flag Collection. Scheduled for 6:00PM, the dinner is open to everyone.
Saturday, April 29th, will begin with 9:00AM meetings of the Board, Annual, and Ladies Auxiliary, followed by a buffet luncheon with keynote speaker Mr. Greg Hand presenting “The Unintended Consequences of John Cleves Symmes”. The luncheon, scheduled for 12:00 noon, is open to everyone. Saturday afternoon will include the judging of the contestants for the Ohio Society’s D.G. High Oration Contest, the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest, and the Middle School Brochure Contest.
On Saturday evening, the Ohio Society Annual Awards Banquet will be held. Beginning with a reception line forming at 5:30, the plated dinner will be served at 6:00PM. The guest of honor, and keynote speaker, will be National Society Sons of the American Revolution Secretary General J. Michael Tomme, Sr., officially representing NSSAR President General Tom Lawrence. Awards will be presented for the youth contests as well as to Society members for their exceptional service to the state society throughout the preceding year.
On Sunday morning, May 1st, a memorial service will be officiated by the Ohio Society SAR Chaplain in remembrance of our departed compatriots. Immediately following the service, the newly elected officers of the Society will be inducted.
