George Rogers Clark Chapter Hosts Constitution Week Dinner
On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, the George Rogers Clark Chapter commemorated the 228th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution with a dinner and program at the Marriott Courtyard in Springfield, Ohio.
After an excellent dinner, Chapter President Randy L. Young, Secretary Terry Whetstone, and Compatriot Paul Schenck presented Clayton E. Marsh of Piqua, Ohio with the National Society third place award for the George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest, which was judged at the Sons of the American Revolution 125th National Congress in Louisville, Kentucky. Marsh placed first in the George Rogers Clark Chapter contest, first at the Ohio Society contest; and thereafter went on to compete at the National Society level.
The chapter also presented SAR Public Safety Awards to two firefighters, who were nominated by Chief Nick Heimlich of the Springfield City Fire and Rescue Division. The Fire Safety Commendation Award was presented to Springfield Lieutenant R. Matt Davis, and the Emergency Medical Services Award was presented to Springfield Lieutenant Gregory D. Sneed.
The evening concluded with an excellent presentation about patriot Alexander Hamilton by his fifth great-grandson, Compatriot Douglas S. Hamilton.
