Mason Ohio Salutes Veterans on Armed Forces Day
On May 16th, the City of Mason, Ohio hosted a patriotic event honoring area veterans. The keynote speaker for the afternoon stage program was U.S. Navy Vice Admiral James P. Wisecup, a member of the Ohio Society Sons of the American Revolution. Other speakers included Colonel Danny R. Bubp, U.S. Marine Corps, and Lt. Colonel Brad Menstrup, U.S. Army Reserves. Menstrup since 2013 has served as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 2nd congressional district. The venue was located at the Mason Veterans’ Memorial at the city building.
Numerous organizations, military units, support groups, and veterans were in attendance. Compatriot Michael B. Gunn, President of the Cincinnati Chapter SAR, presented Revolutionary War relics, military weapons, and stories of the American War of Independence throughout the day.
Mason, named after Revolutionary War veteran William Mason who settled there in 1803, is located in southwestern Warren County, Ohio, approximately 22 miles from downtown Cincinnati.
