Springfield’s George Rogers Clark Chapter Celebrated 92nd Anniversary

George Rogers Clark President Randy Young called the Chapter’s 92nd Anniversary luncheon to order at Saturday noon, April 18, 2015. The Chapter recognized Youth Program winners: Outstanding JROTC Cadet Christopher Levering, Knight Essay winner Clayton Marsh and Douglass High Oration winner Clayton Marsh. The Chapter received a state-of-county briefing by Clark County Commissioner John Detrick, who reported on the economic successes of the Springfield area. Knight Essay chapter winner Clayton Marsh was also recognized as the Ohio Society SAR essay winner, with that award being presented at the Ohio Society annual meeting May 1-2 at the Hope Hotel. The Douglass High Historical Oration contest was originated by the Ohio Society SAR and later adopted by the National Society SAR as the Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest for all states; in Ohio we continue to honor the founder Compatriot Douglass High.
