Passing of Hub Scott Laureate – Columbus

Joe Carvin

On Thursday, September 4th, long time member and Hub Scott Laureate Joe Carvin died.  He was 99, and would have become 100 on Oct. 19th.

SAR members, both in the Benjamin Franklin Chapter and across Ohio, knew Joe to be an exemplary SAR member and an exemplary person. He had served as president of the Chapter, and one of his legacies is a 425-page History of the Benjamin Franklin Chapter that he produced in time for the chapter’s 100th anniversary in 1996.

At the March chapter meeting, Joe presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Theresa Langer of the Columbus Division of Fire for her years of working with him in selecting each year’s recipient of the annual Fire Fighter Award. The attached photo is of that presentation.
