Combined Celebrations – Cleveland
On Friday, June 13, the Western Reserve Society Archibald Willard, and Northeast Ohio Chapter Color Guard participated in the 237th Flag Day Anniversary, the US Army’s 239th Birthday, and the Naturalization Ceremony at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The program took place inside the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because of the inclement weather. The program started with the posting of the Colors by the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion, Cleveland Post. There were greetings from a number of dignitaries and local groups, followed by the U. S. Army’s 239th Birthday Celebration and recognition of the “Soldiers of the Year by Newton D. Baker Greater Cleveland Chapter of AUSA to SSG Adam J. Edwards, SGT. Andrew F. Branic, SGT Daniel J. Brautigam, and SGT Michael D. Barnhardt.
The guest Speaker was Chief Judge, Solomon Oliver Jr. of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Then Chief Judge, Solomon Oliver Jr. swore in thirty new Citizens. Members of the Color Guard (John Franklin, Claude Custer, Lee MacBride of WRS and Dan Matheke (NEO) congratulated the new citizens as they come down off the stage. At the close out the program the Sons of the American Revolution retired the colors. Birthday cake was enjoyed by all.
