Lord Dunmore’s War – Circleville


Dr. James Glanville, respected scholar and historian made a short visit to Circleville on April 5th to address the Camp Charlotte Chapter.  Glanville is a leading authority on the life of Lord John Murray Dunmore the primary author of the Camp Charlotte Treaty of 1774.

Glanville outlined the events of Lord Dunmore’s War from the Battle of Point Pleasant, present day West Virginia on October 9, 1774 to the Camp Charlotte encampment, near present day Circleville, Ohio on October 17, 1774 to the Fort Gower Resolutions, near present day Athens, Ohio in November 1774.

This being the 230th Anniversary of the War, Glanville was drumming up support for local celebrations across Ohio and West Virginia.  These Battles and Encampments secured the Western Frontier for the colonies during the Revolutionary War of 1775 – 1783.
