Honoring Patriot John Melick – Mount Perry


The Maple Hill Chapter of Huntsville, Alabama and the Muskingum Chapter of Zanesville, Ohio  of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a Grave Marker Dedication  for John Melick on Saturday, May 10, 2014, 120 years to the day of his death in Mount Perry, Ohio.

Twenty-Six members of the Daughters of the American Revolution have proved into the Society identifying this patriot originally from Somerset, New Jersey.

The Ohio Society Color Guard presented the Colors during the ceremony.  Members from Marietta Chapter, Hocking Valley Chapter and the General Henry Knox Chapter participated.

The heavy rain showers during the morning hours caused the event to shift to the nearby Mount Perry Presbyterian Church.  Despite the weather the ceremony was meaningful and completion of a multi-year project by the ladies of the Maple Hill Chapter.
