New Medals and Awards – Louisville, KY
To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Sons of the American Revolution the National Society has issued a commemorative medal with the likeness of the first commander and chief, George Washington. Current Members and new members during 2014 may purchase the medal through the merchandise store at the National Society. Medal pictured above.
Patriot Grave Marking has been recognized by the National Society with a medal. To qualify, a compatriot must have participated in 15 grave marking medals since 1 March 2011. A form must be completed and submitted to the Chair of the Patriot Index / Revolutionary War Graves Register Committee. Awarded for the first time this year are the Roger Sherman Service Medals. Bronze for the Chapter, Silver for the State and Gold for National Society Service.
The Distinguished Service Medal was expanded this year to allow chapters to present the Bronze Distinguished Service.
Color Guard expanded its medal offering to include the Von Steuben Medal for service beyond its traditional Bronze and Silver Medals.
Also approved over the last year are two medals specifically designed for the ladies. The Molly Pitcher Medal for participation with Color Guard Activities and the Lydia Darragh Medal to recognize the service of the wives of the State Society Presidents.
