George Rogers Clark at New Boston – Springfield
The Fair at New Boston, Ohio’s premier gathering of recreators, reenactors, factors, foodies and people having fun – a number of whom turn up in 1780s to 1820s clothing – starts with attendees walking in past the George Rogers Clark Chapter SAR welcome tent. The Fair ran the Labor Day weekend, with those in the photo being present for Saturday’s setup, with many more in the Chapter participating for the whole weekend.
(left to right standing): Terry Whetstone (former Ohio Society SAR President and current GRC Chapter President), John Buffenbarger, Luwellyn Pyles, Elwin Spray and (seated) Jim Welsh, who has just signed his membership application – Welcome Jim!
Also present at the Fair were other SAR members, who enjoyed the cannon blasts, the bagpipes, the roast corn, pork chops – and historical information booths. DAR and SAR members from Ohio and Kentucky introduced themselves at the booth. Thousands attend the two day event and carry away memories that last a lifetime!
