114th DAR State Conference – Columbus
The Ohio Society, Daughters of the American Revolution held their 114th Annual State Conference in Columbus over April 12-13-14. Over 300 women attended the conference at the Columbus Airport Marriott Hotel.
Friday evening was the National Defense Banquet. The speaker was Charlotte Marky, a Hungarian who became a naturalized citizen fifty years ago after surviving World War II and the Stalin controlled Hungarian regime. She immigrated at age 16 and became a citizen at age 22. Mrs. Marky received the Akron Chapter’s DAR Americanism Medal.
SAR State Society President State Kelley presented three awards at the banquet. The First was a Certificate of Recognition to the Ohio DAR for their contributions to SAR membership. Last year there were nine new members who were referred and registered by DAR members. In addition, the Martha Washington Medal was presented to Sandy McCann, State Vice Regent and the Daughters of Liberty Medal was presented to State Regent Sharlene Shoaf.
