History Day – Cleveland & Westerville
District 3 History Day completion was held on March 23rd on the Campus of Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. The theme for this year was Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events. Hundreds of students in grades 6-12 participated in exhibits, performances, Webpage design, documentaries and essays.
During the History Day Award Ceremony on Saturday March 23, 2013, Western Reserve Society Past President, John H. Franklin, awarded David and Nathan Speelman, from St. Banabas School, Northfield, OH, Outstanding Citizenship Pins and a $100.00 check for their display of “A Revolution that Just Made Sense,” about Thomas Paine and his “Common Sense” pamphlet. District 6 History Day was held the same day at Otterbein University in Westerville. There were over 300 entries in the Central Ohio district. Steve Kelley was a judge for Junior Exhibits.
Winners from the Districts will compete for State honors on April 28th at Ohio State University.
