Warren Harding – Marion
Born in Blooming Grove, Ohio in 1865, Warren Harding became the 29th President of the United States, serving from 1921 until his death in 1923. Hepublished the newspaper in Marion, Ohio and became active in politics rising from Ohio State Senator to U.S. Senator to President.
He was a descendant of Patriot Abraham Harding, Jr. of Walhill, New York. As a members of the SAR he attended the 34th SAR National Congress in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Sunday, October 14th under a dark clouded sky, the Boy Scouts of Central Ohio made their 81st Harding Pilgrimage to the Tomb of Warren and Florence Harding in Marion, Ohio. Joining them was Brigadier General Berry on behalf of the Office of the President. The Scouts and the General presented memorial wreaths at the tomb on behalf of scouting and the country.
Ohio State Society President and his lady represented the SAR and made contacts with the Mayor of Marion, the General, the Heart of Ohio Boy Scout Council, and the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council.
